Increasing the safety and security of our nation by improving the physical activity and health of its people
Presentations
Leaders from across government, academia, non-profits, and industry recognize that one of the greatest public health challenges of our time, physical inactivity and disease, rarely gets the attention it deserves. By tying this public health challenge to another significant challenge of our time, military readiness and national security, Dan’s presentations resonate with a remarkably broad spectrum of listeners.
Presentations span from tactical to visionary, depending on the audience’s interest. One cornerstone of Dan’s presentations is how to build multidisciplinary partnerships across uncommon, but necessary stakeholder groups, in order to achieve wins for all involved. Another cornerstone of Dan’s presentations is his presentation style which is passionate, fun, engaging, and thought-provoking. Dan has been a featured presenter at regional, national, and international scientific meetings as well as briefings with senior military leaders and high-ranking government officials. Presentations are typically 45-90 minutes.
Strategic Consulting
Dan has been retained to provide general strategic consutling across a range of areas, but most consutling falls within one of the following areas:1. Building networks of key stakeholders to advance your organization's strategic interests.2. Developing and/or evaluating academic curricula in physical activity, fitness, health, or human performance optimization.3. Scientifically evaluating existing/emergening human performance optimization or health and wellness initiatives.
Dan can also be brought on for project-specific strategic planning. Strategically designing and planning physical activity, fitness, health, or human performance optimization initiatives at the individual-level or population-level can be highly complex. Furthermore, achieving buy-in from key stakeholders in order to execute a strategic plan can be equally challenging.
Dan’s highly unique background, infectious enthusiasm, and ability to bring people together in developing actionable solutions to complex problems are the reasons why leaders across a wide variety of organizations including academic institutions, worksites, K-12 schools, non-profits, and government agencies, seek out his guidance for their projects.
Project-specific strategic planning sessions are most effective when designed for small groups. Though customized to meet each client’s needs, strategic planning sessions often include: assessing critical needs; facilitating discussions around key outcomes and demonstrating return on investment for those outcomes; identifying and engaging key stakeholders; and prioritizing actionable next steps. These sessions are also highly effective when they include a meal/session with one or more high profile leaders (e.g. Mayor, CEO, Provost, Commanding Officer, Principal/Superintendent). Strategic planning sessions can range from two hours to two days.
